The Civil Ceremony
All our event spaces at the Kensington Rooms are licensed to host Civil Wedding Ceremonies, allowing you to have the entire event in one beautiful location. All you have to do is book your Registration Officer for your chosen date. We offer an all-inclusive package for the ceremony.
The Civil Ceremony can be added to any of our Wedding Choices at an additional cost. This option includes the following:
- Exclusive Room Hire of Civil Ceremony Room
- Exclusive Hire of Interview room
- Service Conductor
- Hotel Accommodation is also available at an additional cost

Step 1 – Book the Civil Service Venue at Kensingtonrooms
We can help you to decide on the room best suited for your Civil Service Ceremony. Provisional bookings can be held for up to one month
Step 2 – Getting Started
Before you marry both of you must give formal notice of marriage to the Superintendent Registrar of the district in which you reside. Your Notices will be displayed on the public Notice Boards of the Register Office where you have given your Notice for fifteen clear days and then can your authority of marriage be issued. This authority must be in the possession of the Registrar who attends you on day of your ceremony. You must ensure that there is a Registration Officer available for your chosen date before you confirm your booking at Kensingtonrooms.
Step 3 – The Paperwork
Once you give your Notices you will need to prove your age, marital status, nationality and address. You will also need to prove your identity by means of a passport, identity card or Home Office travel Document.
Step 4 – Confirmation
Confirm the booking at Kensingtonrooms. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total wedding ceremony and reception cost is required to secure your date.
Step 5 – Event Co-ordination
We understand that you might need assistance in planning the event and our professional team will be there right from the beginning until your departure. Your personally dedicated Event Manager will contact you two months prior to your wedding date to arrange an appointment to discuss your requirements in detail.
Step 6 – Final Payment
One month before your Wedding Date you will be required to pay the balance on your account.
Step 7 – Final Numbers
Final numbers will be required two weeks before your Wedding Date as well as details of table plans.
